Years 2022 and 2023 will be full of exciting openings and premieres! After a very difficult two-year period, it is time to celebrate return to live events, conferences, incentives and leisure travels. The years of the pandemic were very difficult for everyone, and there is no doubt the hospitality sector was one of the most affected. But in every bad situation there is always a positive side. For Prague, it is the huge growth of new 5* hotels which are due to open in upcoming couple of years. Although Prague has already been home to famous 5* hotel chains, the overall percentage of rooms at the highest standard was still slightly below 5%. This was a huge problem in particular for wealthy clientele with large high-end incentive travel: groups would always have to split over several hotels and it made it more complicated for event planning and the overall event logistics. Now, with the new iconic names like Ritz Carlton or Hyatt coming to our capital, the new chapter of services of the highest standard is about to start, and it is exactly what Prague, one of the most beautiful cities in the world, needs to recover after the difficult Covid years.

My favorite 5* hotels in Prague which are already open

1, Four Seasons Hotel Prague

The most luxurious 5* hotel in Prague, with absolutely unique location and view. An amazing lobby, great service, perfectly trained staff, just simply everything you expect from Four Seasons. Whenever I want to be sure that my clients will experience the best of the best, I always know that this hotel will never put a foot wrong.

Tip: Imagine a patio decorated with flowers, the sunset, the view of Prague Castle and the Charles Bridge, a live Jazz band, sparkling wine and perfect canapés. That’s exactly what you need as a perfect welcome reception for your event!

2, Augustine Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Prague

Just a few steps from one of the most beautiful gardens in Prague, located under Prague Castle in Lesser Town, the hotel is made up of seven historical buildings. The most important is the 13th-century Augustinian Monastery of St. Thomas, after which the hotel is named. Several practising monks still live in a separate part of the monastery and brew their own beer, and the garden is a perfect spot for wedding ceremonies.

Tip: The Augustine Hotel also serves one of the most delicious Eggs Benedicts I have ever had!

3, Alchymist Grand Hotel and Spa

You either love this hotel or don’t like it at all. This hotel is definitely one of a kind. The combination of Bohemian crystal, Baroque and medieval style, historical buildings, Italian owners & decoration give this hotel a true uniqueness. This hotel is located in the same street as the US Embassy and another 5* hotel – Aria hotel, Prague, which is surrounded by spectacular Vrtba garden (also perfect for wedding ceremonies).

4, NH Collection Carlo IV

Located a few steps from Wenceslav Square, this hotel consists of two buildings, one modern and a second one with typical 19th-century style.  A huge, high-ceilinged foyer, grand staircases and original chandeliers make a huge impression on everyone. Carlo IV. offers a perfect spa and one of the largest indoor pools in the city.

5, Mandarin Oriental, Prague

A great mixture of oriental and local rich history. Located in Lesser Town close to Prague Castle, the hotel offers unique wellness services. It is perfect for smaller conferences which require touch of high-end style.

Other favorite 5* hotels:

  • Hilton Old Town & Hilton hotel, Prague (with its huge room capacity, Hilton hotel, Prague is rightly considered the best conference hotel)
  • Golden Well Hotel
  • Emblem Hotel
  • Prague Marriott Hotel
  • The Grand Mark Prague – The Leading Hotels of the World
  • Radisson Blu Hotel Prague
  • Buddha-Bar Hotel Prague and others

So what are the highly anticipated 5* hotels which are about to open?

1, Andaz Prague by Hyatt – to be opened by spring 2022
Hotel Andaz is being built in the former Sugar Palace, a few steps from Wenceslas Square, close to NH hotel Carlo IV.“Andaz Prague is a showcase for the whole corporation. Hyatt carefully selects locations and has only four hotels across Europe. Prague will be the fifth after Vienna, Munich, London and Amsterdam, ” says Josef Wiedermann, UBM Development Czech Republic.

2, W by Marriott – to be opened in second half of 2022

The owners want it to be the most luxurious hotel in Europe. Well, with the great name reputation “W”, it´s what we have been looking for! And the location is right at the famous Wenceslas Square.

3, The Julius by Julius Meinl – to be opened in spring 2022

The Financial Times included the opening of The Julius hotel in Prague to the list of „The big hotel openings of 2022“. The Julius belongs to Viennese grocer Julius Meinl am Graben. Like Andaz hotel Prague, the Julius hotel is located on Senovazne Square, a few steps to/from Wenceslas Square.

4, Golden Prague Hotel by Fairmont – to be opened in January 2023

This reconstruction is very close to my heart, because Golden Prague Hotel is a former Intercontinental hotel, of which I have many lovely memories. The hotel Intercontinental used to be one of the leading hotels in Prague in the 20th century, typical with its architecture of raw concrete in the Brutalist style. There was much discussion about the new redesign and building itself, but according to media and architecture magazines, a compromise was reached, and the interior design should follow the original appearance of the interior and a number of renovated original elements should return.

5, Ritz Carlton – to be opened in 2023

Located in the Old Town Square

6, Almanac – to be opened in 2023

Located close to the Vltava River, opposite Letna Park
